The Little Fighter With the Biggest Heart — Gordy’s Story

The Little Fighter With the Biggest Heart — Gordy’s Story

At just four years old, Gordy has already survived what most couldn’t. Three open-heart surgeries — the latest, a complex Fontan procedure — meant to give him something priceless: more time.

He entered the world six weeks early, small and fragile, fighting for every breath. At only three weeks old, surgeons opened his tiny chest for the first time. His mother whispered, “Be strong, baby.” And somehow, he was.

But the road wasn’t kind. A stroke during one operation left him with cerebral palsy on his left side. He didn’t walk until nearly three — each shaky step a miracle of courage and will.

Now, in the ICU, surrounded by tubes and monitors, Gordy still hums to Barbara Ann, still smiles, still dreams of being a doctor “so I can help kids be brave like me.”

This last surgery was his toughest — a collapsed lung, fluid buildup, relentless pain. Yet his little heart refuses to quit.

His parents say faith is what holds them up. Because if Gordy is still fighting… they will too.
