Born in 1971, David Phillip Vetter entered the world carrying an invisible battle — Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), a rare genetic disease that left him without an immune system.

From his very first breath, he was placed inside a sterile plastic bubble, a transparent world where love had to exist behind barriers. 🌙

He couldn’t feel the touch of his mother’s hand, the warmth of a hug, or the breeze of the outside world. Every breath of air, every object near him, had to be sterilized. His world was quiet, small — yet his spirit remained boundless. 🌿
Doctors, scientists, and his family worked tirelessly to find a cure. In 1983, a bone marrow transplant from his sister offered hope — but it carried a hidden virus. Tragically, that infection claimed David’s life just a year later. He was only 12 years old. 💔

Though his life was short, David’s courage changed the world. His story raised global awareness of SCID, inspiring breakthroughs in gene therapy and treatments that now give children a chance at the life he never had. 🧬✨
David’s legacy is more than medical history — it’s a tender reminder of how fragile our freedoms truly are: the air we breathe, the touch we feel, the hugs we give without fear. 🤍
He lived in a bubble, but his story continues to breathe hope beyond glass. 🌈
