PD Jura from Leicestershire Police

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of PD Jura from Leicestershire Police, following a brave battle with gastric torsion. Jura was a truly special police dog, not only due to his operational success but also because of the remarkable bond he shared with his handler, PC Darren Sewell.

During Darren’s own battle with stage four cancer, Jura was just a puppy, and their weekly training sessions became a welcomed escape for Darren while undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Despite the challenges they both faced, their unwavering commitment to each other was a testament to the strength of their partnership.
Against all odds, PC Sewell and PD Jura successfully licensed as a police dog team in 2021, overcoming vast adversity. Together, they made an incredible duo. Darren was by Jura’s side when he passed, to be reunited with his half-sister, PD Zyla, who tragically died in the line of duty in July 2024.

Our thoughts are with PC Sewell, his family, and the wider police dog family at Leicestershire Police. Rest in peace, PD Jura. Thank you for your service, your loyalty, and your bravery. #PoliceDogHero #PDJura #LeicestershirePolice #RestInPeace #UnbreakableBond #ThankYouForYourService
