The blast tore through his body

In 2010, in the heart of Afghanistan, Marine Kyle Carpenter made an extraordinary choice. When a grenade landed beside his comrade, he didn’t think twice—he threw himself on it.

The blast tore through his body, leaving him with a shattered jaw  , the loss of an eye  , and a diagnosis of death—but he defied the odds and lived.

Over 40 surgeries later, Kyle stood strong once again, earning the Medal of Honor from President Obama  .
Today, he’s not just a survivor; he’s an author  , a tireless advocate  , and soon, his name will grace a U.S. Navy ship  .

This isn’t just survival—this is the true meaning of heroism.
