In April 2023, Texas teacher Sherri Moody thought she had a simple cold during a class trip. But soon, things took a dark turn — high fever, struggling to breathe, and a rush to the hospital.   Doctors discovered double pneumonia caused by a strep infection that led to septic shock, shutting down her circulation. In a desperate bid to save her, they induced a coma.

When Sherri woke up, the infection had taken its toll. Her arms and legs were black and lifeless, and surgeons had no choice but to perform a quadruple amputation.

But Sherri didn’t give up.   Despite losing all four limbs, she found the strength to push forward.
